Shutterfest 2016. Holy wow! There’s no real way to describe it except to say that if you weren’t there, you missed something amazing! For those that don’t know, Shutterfest is the annual photography conference that Jeff and I have attended for the past 3 years. We were at the very first one and it was the very first photography conference either of us had ever gone to. It’s the first place we ever submitted images for competition. It’s where we’ve met incredible friends and participated in fun shoots and laughed until we cried and met amazing educators and I could go on and on. Overall, it’s amazing and we learn so much each year!
The basic format is that there are some full group sessions and then breakout sessions of up to 50 attendees which you sign up for in advance. Classes are limited and some of them are super hard to get into. Since Jeff didn’t do a lot of shooting in his classes, I’ll be taking you through a little photo journey of my three shooting breakout sessions.
My first breakout session was on posing the bride and groom with Michael Anthony-a great wedding photographer in LA.
Our two models were fantastic and smoldering!
It’s a shame we didn’t have any fun 🙂
My second class was on posing same sex couples. One of our couples were two girls who have been best friends since they were little girls. They were crazy fun together and our whole class adored them for being willing to model together. Our other couple are a real life couple and since I haven’t had much experience posing two grooms together, I spent most of the class chatting with the two of them and photographing them. It was a ton of fun and they were crazy sweet!
This little zany dance break was one of my favorite moments 🙂
I adore how this marquee looks behind Michael and Brandon.
My last shooting class was on engagement sessions and it was my favorite!!! William Innes is a photographer based in LA as well and he’s a fantastic instructor. His class was fun and I got a lot out of it. This first image I got of our models walking by the trains is my favorite from this class. Love the beams!!!!
Okay for real-Matt’s smile is too cute!
Breanna’s laugh is infectious and I just loved her smile! In between all of this, we met new friends, hung out with old friends, had dinner with some of our favorite people, dressed up in 80’s garb for an 80’s party, Jeff was given a blown up guitar because he dressed like 80’s Bruce Springsteen, I wore a crazy pink headband and lots of color, and we attended an extra day of all business classes and ended up onstage in front of 500 people! It was crazy, it was fun, it was amazing and I can’t wait for Shutterfest 2017!!!!
