While COVID has put a stall to a lot of couple’s plans, we’ve got a few couples that have chosen to make adjustments to their original plans and still hold their weddings in 2020. Kelsey and Austin are one of those couples. We were so elated to celebrate their wedding day with them in early July! Though they had to significantly cut down their guest list to only family and their wedding party, they still had an incredible day full of celebration.
Kelsey started her day at Gymkana Blue, a salon in downtown Dubuque. The ladies there were so wonderful to Kelsey and her wedding party and they even let the ladies get dressed there at the salon. It was the perfect start to the day!

Meanwhile, Austin got ready at his and Kelsey’s house. He and his guys goofed around and enjoyed the morning together prepping for the day. Kelsey and Austin had given all the guys custom mugs so of course we had to get some photos with those too!

Kelsey’s grandparents volunteered with the Dubuque Arboretum for years and years. Kelsey’s memories of her grandparents revolve around the Arboretum and she is so proud of the work that they did there. When it came time to choose where she and Austin would have their photos taken, it only made sense that we go to the Arboretum. Even though there was a little rain, it turned out perfectly!

We also did wedding party and family photos there at the Arboretum. Kelsey and Austin chose to get all of their “formal” photos done and out of the way before the ceremony which made the day so relaxed and easy.

Their ceremony took place at Holy Ghost. Every third pew was blocked off to help maintain social distancing measures. Though it was certainly different from “normal”, the ceremony was heartfelt and beautiful. Since Jeff and I were both raised Catholic, these Catholic ceremonies are always special to us.

After the ceremony the fun really began! From the party bus to the reception everyone that was there wanted Kelsey and Austin to have a joy filled day and they did all they could to keep them smiling and laughing.

The best end to the day was that the sunset was AMAZING! First, we had storm clouds that rolled in just as we all got to the reception, then the storm passed and gave way to this incredible yellow sky. And finally, there was a rainbow. I couldn’t help but feel like it was a sign that Kelsey and Austin could have faith that their marriage will stand the test of time.

It was an INCREDIBLE day and we are so glad we could be part of it. Kelsey and Austin, we can’t wait to see where life takes you two!!!
