When we woke up the morning of Corey and Brandy’s wedding, the first thing we saw were clouds. That always makes us equally happy and nervous. Cloud cover for a wedding day can make for gorgeous photos because the light is diffused and soft, wrapping itself around our subjects and making them look awesome! However, since Brandy and Corey had planned their entire wedding to be outdoors, a bad rainstorm could be a huge bummer for them. Thankfully though, the rain stayed at bay for a majority of the day. Now and then it drizzled a bit, but for the most part it stayed away until just after the cake cutting when it came in droves!!! Check out the photos below to see that epic storm roll in!
Brandy started her day getting her hair and makeup done at Contempo Salon in Dubuque. She and her girls spent most of the morning joking and laughing together.
Corey and his guys hung out at LeFevre Inn throughout the morning. They watched TV and spent the morning joking around having fun together.
After their hair and makeup were done, Brandy and her girls traveled back to LeFevre to get dressed. Brandy’s mom helped her get in her dress and get her ready for her first look with her dad and Corey.
Brandy’s first look with her dad was highly emotional. Her dad was so happy, but this day also had special significance because it also would have been his parent’s anniversary if his dad was still around. Before her grandpa passed away, Brandy had asked him and her grandma for permission to share their wedding date with them (which they granted of course!). It was such a special day with many tributes made in her grandpa’s honor.
Being Galena natives, Brandy and Corey know a lot of people in the area. One of those incredible people is Nat who has the most beautiful backyard garden!!! She was sweet enough to allow us to invade her backyard for their first look and photos of them and their wedding party before the ceremony. It was so beautiful there!!!
Their ceremony was personal and sweet. Brandy’s dad cried giving her away, the couple shared sweet jokes throughout, and Corey surprised Brandy when he picked up his guitar and serenaded her with the song “I Want To Grow Old With You” from the movie The Wedding Singer. It was truly perfect!!!
After the ceremony, Brandy, Corey and their wedding party loaded onto a trolley and we went by downtown Galena for a few photos along the river.
When we got back to the property, apparently the storm clouds had started to roll in, but none of us saw them. We were so focused on getting the entrances going and getting the party started! Brandy and Corey had super unique touches by asking the Galena Elks to cater burgers, brats, and their famous fries and they even had a beer truck. Needless to say, everyone was excited for the dinner and the party! However, all of that had to be put on hold when super huge storm clouds rolled through and the wind picked up. All of a sudden there was a downpour all around us! Both Brandy and Corey had great attitudes about it though and stayed in the tent laughing with their friends and family as we all waited out the storm.
The rain eventually let up and the party ensued! From hilarious dance moves on the floor to some of the coolest sunset photos we’ve ever taken due to the crazy sky after the rain, it was an epic night that no one will forget!
Thank you to everyone that helped make their day amazing!
