Hello and welcome to the blog today! This week is going to be a fun one! We’re starting it off with the wedding that Galena gave away in December, then we’re headed to an engagement session outside of Chicago with amazing Christmas lights, and finally on Friday we’ll have a big announcement about what’s coming to the blog next. It’ll be great so we hope you’ll follow along with us on the journey this week.
Today, we’re starting the week with some images from the Galena Wedding In A Window event. This fall, we were tapped on the shoulders to be part of a wedding that other vendors in Galena planned to give away. The planning had just begun and they were hoping we would be open to photographing the wedding. It sounded awesome so we jumped at the opportunity! Over the following months the planning fell into place and on the night of Luminaria, John and Claire were married in the window of Vignettes on Main Street. It was such a great event to be part of!!!
Claire began her day getting ready at Elle Spa & Salon on Main Street. Her mom and her two bridesmaids came along with her and they laughed and joked all morning long.
Claire was all smiles when her flowers were dropped off! She loved them!!!!
Meanwhile, John was getting ready at the adorable cottage at Farmer’s Guest House. He was all smiles thinking about getting to see Claire soon!
Then it was time for their first look. We chose to have them meet at Turner Hall because it’s a beautiful historic building and it put us in a great location so that we could easily access downtown for great photo opportunities.
Their reaction to seeing each other was so sweet! We feel so lucky we got to witness it!
Look at that smile on Claire’s face. I just adore how happy she was all day long! John too. He could not stop smiling every time he looked at Claire. Next, we picked up Claire and John’s wedding party and spent time walking around and enjoying downtown Galena while taking some photos together. This group was hilarious and each of them were incredibly excited for John and Claire. What a great group of people!!!
The ceremony was set to take place in the window of Vignettes downtown. Because John’s family couldn’t make it to the wedding from China, we hooked them up with Skype so that his family could watch.
Lexi Parr sang to the crowd before the ceremony began while John and Claire were talking with journalists who were running stories about their day.
The ceremony was officiated by our great friend, Jess Farlow. His ceremonies are personal and sweet while having moments of humor scattered throughout.
The crowd outside in the street watching the ceremony was about 400 people strong! Isn’t that amazing?!?!?
After the ceremony we took a trolley ride to look at the Luminaria lights throughout Galena. The entire town sparkled just for John and Claire to enjoy!
We ended the evening at Stoney Creek Inn for an intimate dinner catered by Fried Green Tomatoes. John and Claire loved the American tradition of cutting their cake and heartfelt speeches were given by their wedding party. They made sure to personally thank every person that attended their day to celebrate with them.
Overall, it was an incredible day that was only successful because our local community pulled together to create a memorable day for John and Claire. Thank you to everyone that made their day a success in every facet!
