On a stunningly beautiful day in mid September, Amy and Jake hosted a gorgeous coral and gray wedding in Batavia and Bartlett IL. We first met Amy when she was part of Jess and Megan’s wedding party last September. Over the past year we have had a blast getting to know her and Jake even more. We’ve climbed into canyons together, played on the streets of Galena, and on their wedding day we got to celebrate their love together.
Amy began her day by getting ready at her parent’s house. First, I have to tell you that I’m in love with this house. Not just because it’s adorable, but because you feel the love emanating from it the second your eyes fall on it. There was so much joy and laughter shared among Amy and her girls as they spent the morning hours preparing for the rest of the day.
Amy didn’t tell her bridesmaids what her dress looked like so she had them each draw what they guessed her dress would look like. It was so fun watching them talk and think through what they thought her dress would look like.
Amy got ready up in her parent’s room and after her mom helped her put on her dress, she saw her dad and then her grandfather for the first time on her wedding day. Those moments were both beautiful, but her grandfather’s reaction was the most precious moment for me that morning. It’s times like this, when a grandfather can’t find the words to tell his granddaughter how beautiful she is and how much he loves her, that I am so grateful for what Jeff and I get to do. We get to capture those moments, those feelings, and stop a moment in time so that Amy can forever remember the look on her grandpa’s face that day. After those touching moments, it was time for Amy to see her bridesmaids for the first time. Their reactions were also priceless!
Jake spent his morning getting ready with his guys as the house he and Amy recently bought together.
Amy and Jake’s first look was so sweet and unique. First, Amy wanted them to be back to back so that they could talk a little before turning around and seeing each other for the first time, so Jeff got Jake in place and I led Amy (with her eyes closed) so that she could hold Jake’s hands. After they turned and saw each other, they read vows they had written to one another. Yet again, these were sweet and heartfelt moments we were so glad to be witness to. After the first look we spent time taking photos of Amy and Jake together before their ceremony. We arrived at the church early and Amy and Jake took a few moments to enjoy the quiet church before anyone else arrived. Before we knew it, everyone had arrived and it was time for the ceremony to begin. It was a beautiful Catholic ceremony held at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Batavia.
After the ceremony it was time to have some fun hanging out with, and taking photos with the wedding party. This group is so at ease with each other that having fun together was incredibly easy for them. When we were traveling on the bus, some of the ladies serenaded us with Celine Dion songs which was pretty much the best thing in the whole world 🙂 Their reception was held at Bartlett Hills Golf Club in Bartlett, IL. It has a lovely room with huge windows that overlooks the course. Before entering for the reception, we stole Amy and Jake away for a few minutes of photos on the course with the falling sunlight. The day ended with a zany celebration full of dancing and laughter. One tradition in Amy’s family is that the guys all get together to sing “Bridge Over Troubled Waters” at every wedding. Because we had a past UnPosed couple at the wedding, of course we had to take a selfie with Jess and Megan and then a photo with all 6 of us!!! It’s so fun getting to see past UnPosed couples at our weddings 🙂 The final photo of the evening was an adventure all together. As we were set up to take this image, the sprinklers turned on and we all had to run and hide behind a huge pine tree! One thing is for sure, knowing Amy and Jake has been a hilarious adventure at every turn!!!
Amy and Jake, thank you so much for letting us be part of your incredible day. We have loved every moment of knowing you both!
