Oh my gosh! Today is my FAVORITE Best of 2017 day!!! If you’ve been around the blog for any length of time you know that photographing the first time a couple sees each other is near and dear to our hearts. We are happy to capture our UnPosed Couple’s wedding days however they want to share it and whatever they choose is right for them is always what we want them to do. It is their day after all! That said, the sheer romance and truly sweet moments that happen during a First Look can never be replicated and I think that’s why it’s so dear to us when our couples choose to share those moments together. I could go on and on about why I’m such a firm believer in sharing a First Look with your sweetheart, but I’ll save that for another post. Today I simply want to share a few of my favorite First Look moments that happened in 2017. These are just a small smattering of the incredible First Looks that our couples shared in 2017 and we hope they make your heart happy like they make mine happy!
I loved the joy and laugher that Ronnie and April shared in between happy tears.
John was a little overcome when he saw Ashley for the first time. If you’ve seen our Best of Ceremony Moments post, you also know that John is my perfect example for why doing a First Look doesn’t take away the emotion you feel at the aisle. Both John and Ashley were emotional for both moments and it was so sweet! While this isn’t exactly a First Look moment, one of our favorite people at Eagle Ridge Resort is this guy escorting Ashley right here. His name is Mike and he is just the sweetest man ever! He got to know Ashley because he has driven for her and her family most of their trips out to Eagle Ridge while they were planning the wedding. So when it came time for choosing drivers for their wedding day, Mike made sure to get the shift that allowed him to drive Ashley to her first look. He also took it upon himself to walk with her so that she didn’t trip on her way to meet her hubby. He kept her smiling and helped calm her nerves. It is one of my favorite moments of the year.
I absolutely loved this series of moments between Destiney and Joe. Destiney says she looks like a “hot mess” in this first image, but I think it’s so sweet how incredibly happy she was to see her hubby to be. Every couple’s reaction in their first look is different. Some cry and some laugh and some do both. For Heather and Chris the initial reaction was laughter and joy, that turned into sweet embraces just holding onto each other for a few moments and soaking in each other’s love.
Jessica wanted to do a first look with her stepdad before going to see her hubby for the first time. He cracked me up because after his initial reaction he said he wanted a “redo for the camera” which resulted in this third image and his silly reaction. I cracked up!!! I love the anticipation on Anders face as Kara walked down the hill to meet him and her huge grin when he turned around to hug her for the first time! This moment right here. I am not lying when I tell you that Ward’s reaction to seeing Kelsey made Jeff and I both cry a little. Well, Jeff shed just a couple of tears, but I was wiping streams of tears off my face. Ward’s reaction was filled with such genuine love for Kelsey. Brian is one guy that told me he didn’t think he’d cry during his First Look with Lindsay, but Lindsay kept saying all morning “I think he’s going to cry.” She was right! Maeghan and Charley had such a fun series of photos from their First Look that I couldn’t narrow them down! Both of their reactions to seeing each other were so cute!!!! Matt and Margaret’s rainy first look on the golf course was super adorable! Matt threw that umbrella out of his way to hug Margaret!!! And he even showed off a bit in in his suit which made Margaret giggle.
Alright party people, tomorrow is the LAST DAY of Best of 2017 posts! I’m so sad this series is ending because it’s one of my favorite ones to pull together! Make sure to come back tomorrow for the ending of the series with our Best of 2017 Couples Photos 🙂
