I wish there was a way to adequately express the love we have for the two people you’re about to meet on our blog today. They are so sweet, so kind, and so gracious. From the first moment we “met” them on Skype and throughout their planning process they have made our hearts sing. Sarah stole my heart immediately because she’s organized, a great planner, and knew exactly what she wanted out of her wedding day but wasn’t worried if things didn’t go according to plan. All the best planners know that you can plan all you want, but when push comes to shove you have to be flexible and roll with whatever happens. That is Sarah through and through. Were they expecting it to rain on their wedding day? Nope. Were they expecting crazy winds that made our eyes tear up? Nope. Did they roll with it anyway? You bet! And that’s an epic start to what will be an epic love story between these two.
To start the day (which also happened to be Halloween), Sarah and her girls had the staff at Eagle Ridge Spa do their hair and makeup in one of the rooms downstairs of the main lodge. They spent the morning joking together and making each other laugh.
Because Sarah’s dad passed away, it was important to her and her family to honor him throughout the day. One of those ways was that Sarah’s mom sewed a heart cut from one of his shirts into her dress. This shirt was the shirt he was wearing at the hospital when Sarah and her sister were born so it’s even more special. After hair and makeup were done, we all traveled to Oak Hill which is where the ceremony and reception were taking place. Sarah and her girls got ready upstairs in the barn house in one of my absolute favorite rooms!
Patrick and his guys got ready downstairs in the barn house. The best part of Patrick’s morning was Sarah’s gift to him. A new gun! He was shocked and so happy!!!
Their first look took place in the cute little chapel at Oak Hill. It was such a perfect moment for the two of them with ear-to-ear grins from each of them!
The rain and wind didn’t stop us from exploring the grounds and getting photos in the rain! Sarah rocked a pair of pink rain boots and was open to going anywhere our hearts led us. The lane turned out to be one of the best places we took photos that day! Love these classic window shots we got while we waited for their wedding party to be ready. Their wedding party joined us for photos before the ceremony too and what a fun-loving, crazy group this is!!!! If there is a moment when they’re all not about to bust our laughing, we didn’t see it! Their heartfelt ceremony was one of the sweetest we’ve ever witnessed. Not only was the ceremony performed by Patrick’s cousin and Sarah’s brother (who also walked her down the aisle), but their vows were full of sincere love and beautiful promises to support and encourage each other always. This photo is great because the teal truck behind them is also named Sarah. In fact, Sarah the truck was the first Sarah that Patrick’s family knew. So we had to take a photo of Sarah and Patrick with Sarah the truck. Stormy days aren’t all bad. Especially when they bring epic clouds with them!
Sarah and Patrick paid homage to their Halloween wedding by putting pumpkins all over the grounds. They also played off their initials with salt & pepper shaker decor throughout the evening. Because it was Halloween, a few of Sarah and Patrick’s guests dressed up throughout the evening. It added a little playful silliness to the already fun festivities 🙂 Their first dance was to “Sara Smile” by Hall & Oates.
Since Sarah’s dad and stepdad couldn’t be there to dance with her, her uncle filled in and twirled her around the dance floor. Brandon from The After Party DJ’s made sure their dance floor was full from the first song to the last! It was a fun-filled evening of craziness!
Sarah and Patrick getting a pic with Brandon from The After Party 🙂 This Spider-Man mask made the rounds throughout the reception. We ended the night by doing this cool light painting for them. Love this shot so much!!!!
Sarah and Patrick, we are so grateful to know you, to call you friends, and to have been able to join you for your amazing wedding day. Thank you for letting us be part of it!
