Several weeks ago we met with one of our amazing couples for this year in downtown Galena for their engagement photos. Emily & Cordt are from the Peoria area. Emily’s sister’s wedding was one of my very early weddings and Emily and I have kept in contact over the years. She and Cordt have been together for a long time and I could not have been more excited to get her email saying that they were FINALLY engaged and excited to start planning their wedding! We met up with them shortly after at our favorite coffee place in Galena (Leaves & Beans is WONDERFUL!) while we were visiting Jeff’s family in Peoria. We had a great time talking all things wedding and exchanging ideas for their big day.
The day of their engagement session, it was COLD!!! Like cold cold COLD! I’m talking 2 degrees when we started shooting. We had thought hard about cancelling, but these two had planned a whole trip to Galena to do these photos and the ability to reschedule just wasn’t in the cards. So we embraced the cold and we made it happen!
Since doing this a lot of people have asked how we survived such a cold day. Well, we shot in 10-15 minute increments and took a LOT of breaks. Special thank you to Chocolaterie Stam in Galena for letting us camp out there, drink a lot of their coffee, and take breaks to get away from the cold. Without their hospitality it would have been a miserable day for all of us!
I just love how sweet these two are together. Years together make them so comfortable and at ease together which is amazing for us because they’re crazy natural together. They make each other laugh all the time! Each and every moment of their engagement session was full of sweet looks, cute kisses, and lots and lots of laughter!!!
Emily & Cordt, thank you for embracing the cold with us. Thank you for taking a chance and having fun despite frozen coffee, chattering teeth, and blue fingers. You two are fun loving and sweet and we cannot wait to share your wedding day with us later this year!!!
