Woo hoo!!!! Today we get to do something super fun! Did you check our blog post on Monday? If you did then you will certainly recognize this couple! Laura and Andy had TWO wedding days! One in Tybee Island and Savannah Georgia and the other at the Historic Turner Hall in Galena IL a week after their Tybee wedding. This was their chance to celebrate with their extended family as well as many of their friends and what a party it was!!!
Laura began the day with her girls and many of her family members. They all got ready in a beautiful home overlooking Lake Galena in the Galena Territory. The boys were in a home next door for most of the morning. It worked out so well to have them in houses right next to each other.
Laura’s mom helped her get in her dress. This moment between Laura and her grandfather is one of my favorite images of the day. I LOVED these bridesmaids dresses! Laura told her girls to find a dress they loved in a shade of teal and this was the result. It looked so great together!!!!
Because there some issues that came up with their restored truck (which you’ll get to see later) their timeline got pushed back quite a bit in the morning and Laura and Andy just had a few quick moments to spend with each other before we had to run to the ceremony. I love this smile on Andy’s face because he had a VERY stressful morning. But the moment he turned and saw Laura his face broke into this amazingly huge smile! They had decorated Turner Hall beautifully for their ceremony! There were teal and gray and silver accents throughout the hall that looked so beautiful against the historic wood and architecture. In the process of refinishing their antique Ford truck, Laura and Andy had to replace the tailgate. The kept the old tailgate and painted it to look just like the new one. Then they brought it to the wedding and asked their guests to sign it as their guestbook. Isn’t that such a neat idea? The very romantic ceremony was made all the more sweet because Laura and Andy asked one of Laura’s childhood friends to officiate for them. He did such a fantastic job creating a ceremony that truly showed Laura and Andy’s love for each other. After the ceremony we all went outside to check out the restored truck and watch Laura and Andy drive away in it! Jeff went with them right away while I went on the party bus with the wedding party. He snuck in a few images of Laura and Andy on their own before the wedding party joined up with them. Because the truck was acting up, we had to do some quick thinking and opted to take the truck near the Galena River for photos instead of trying to take it all the way out to the Galena Territory. The wedding party and I were just a short while behind them. We had so much fun with this group! What a hilarious group of people that were so crazy happy to be part of Laura and Andy’s day!
The levy is one of the most iconic spots in Galena. With its views of downtown and the river, it’s one of our favorite places to take couples. Plus, the light up there always looks FABULOUS!!!! We took the whole wedding party downtown for a few quick photos too. We had to really hurry because a HUGE storm was making its way toward us so time was of the essence! See those storm clouds? As we were taking these final two images the sky was starting to drip and as soon as we were done those clouds opened up on us! We rushed Laura and Andy inside as quickly as possible! Even though we had only been gone a short time, Laura and Andy’s friends and family had been busy at work changing over the ceremony to the reception decor. Laura handmade almost every single detail throughout their wedding. She made each piece sentimental and loving. She even went as far as to write a personalized letter (most 2 pages long) to every single guest that attended the wedding! This letter was written on the paper enclosing their menus so it was a sweet surprise for each guest when they returned to the reception. These lights that were strung throughout the room added a special pop to the whole feel. It really brought in a lot of romance to Turner Hall.
Once the special dances were done, the party kicked off! Everyone tore it up on the dance floor and had a blast throughout the evening!
Laura and Andy, thank you so much for choosing us to share in BOTH of your special days!!! We are so honored we could be part of your memories!
